Rotunda West

Rotunda West is an unincorporated, deed-restricted community in Charlotte County.

Rotunda West is a unique community that has the shape of an incomplete wagon wheel. A closed, fresh-water canal system surrounds the outside of the “wheel” and travels inside pie-shaped wedges forming the various subdivisions of the development.

The “incomplete” portion of the wagon wheel to the south of the community is protected wetlands and cannot be developed. Because of the pristine wetlands, Rotunda West is home to alligators, bald eagles, great blue herons, egrets and many other birds and wildlife.

The area was originally developed with the concept of creating a golfers/nature lover’s paradise community. Unfortunately, the developers of the project sold the entire complex in 1980, before the project reached completion.

Since that time, numerous developers have continued to develop the area, in the fashion of the original vision plan. Rotunda West is home to challenging golf courses, deep sea fishing, and under crowded beaches. Some consider Rotunda West to be one of the best kept secrets in Southwest Florida.
