Pine Island is part of the Lee County government. Pine 

Island is part of Lee County’s first district, overseen by County Commissioner John Manning.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department is responsible for policing the city.

Pine Island also has its own fire district and is served by three separate fire stations.
